Southern Iran Earthquake
The strong earthquake which rattled Southern Iran on 10 Sept. 2008 is reported to have killed at least three people and injured 26. Epicentered near the port of Khamir in the southern Hormozgan Province, the earthquake was followed by ten aftershocks. Iranian tourist Island of Qeshm on the Gulf and the city of Bandar Abbas were caught unwares by the earthquake which had a magnitude of 6.1 on Richter Scale.
