South of Fiji Islands Eartquake -1st Sept 2008

A medium-intensity earthquake struck the South of Fiji Islands on 1st Sept 2008, with a depth of 102 km at the epicenter. The earthquake of magnitude 6.0 on Richter Scale has been located at 25.375S and 177.633W. This is 432 km north of Raoul Island in Kermadec Islands, 530 km south and southwest of Nuku'Alofa in Tonga and 3026 km west and southwest of Papeete, Tahiti in French Polynesia. A 7.6 magnitude earthquake had struck the region in December 2007. No damages or casualties have been reported in any of these earthquakes.
