Denmark Newspapers

There are many newspapers in Denmark namely—Folkebladet, Fyens Stiftstidende, Dagbladet Politiken, Birkerod Avis, Lokal Avisen, Samso Posten and others. Most of these are Danish newspapers while Copenhagen Post is the only English daily of Denmark.

The Copenhagen Post has been operational since 1997 and has a real time news service which features Nordic and Danish news in English. It was founded by San Shepherd and since 1999 it has been owned by CPHPOST.DK ApS, founded by Ejvind Sandal. It became immensely popular with a large group of Non-Danish speaking people living in Denmark. The current circulation rate of the newspaper is 15,000 copies per week and the figure is constantly on the rise.

Jyllands-Posten is one of the leading Danish newspapers . It is based in Viby, a suburban area of Arhus. It is one of the largest selling newspapers in Denmark with about 150,000 copies sold per week. It was supposed to be an independent liberal newspaper during the time of its foundation in 1871 but then it supported the Conservative People's Party until 1938. Since then, it has become an independent liberal-conservative newspaper of Denmark. It also refers to itself as “Denmark's international newspaper”. This paper gained international attention after the controversial publication of 12 cartoons depicting Islam and Mohammad in September 2005. this enraged the Danish Muslims and protests were made by Islamic countries.

Politiken is one of the popular newspapers of Denmark which ranks second in terms of circulation, about 126,380 copies per week. It was founded on October 1, 1884 in Copenhagen. It relaunched itself on October1, 2006 and split most of the pages horizontally into overview and depth. It is mostly famous globally for its photography and several photographers of the newspaper have won awards.

Apart from these, there are many other newspapers in Denmark which are published from different parts of Denmark like Arhus, Fyn, Kobenhavn, Frederiksborg, Kobe, Ringkobing, Storstrom and others.
