Trebic is a Moravian town is known, especially, as one of the important Czech Republic religious sites. The Basilica of St. Procope made in the Romanesque-Gothic style. The cathedral of the abbot was originally built in honor of Virgin Mary but after repeated demolitions during the war, it was solely used for secular reasons for nearly two years. Constructed in the 13 th century under the Benedictine monastery, it underwent major renovation in between 1725-1731 after which it was again used for religious purposes. Recent renovations took place in between 1924-35.
The Trebic Basilica of St. Procope is enlisted as the UNESCO world Heritage Site together with the surrounding Jewish town that saw the harmonius co - exiostence of the Jews and the Christians. The basillica bears some of its valuable remains including the crypt with timber ceiling that dates back to at least seven centuries. The cross stone vaulted presbytery and the rose window that adorns the eastern part of the apse as well as the portal in the north. The Jewish cemetery bears burial from as earlier as 3000 years and is still in use. This Trebic religious site is located at a distance of just 60 km from the city of Brno.
