There are many Religious monuments and pilgrimage sites in the Czech Republic. Svata Hora u Pribrami or the Provost Church of the Assumption of Our Lady is among the oldest and most significant place of pilgrimage in the Czech Republic, where mother Mary is worshiped. Originally the chapel on Svatá Hora was a simple building built during the early 16th century. The sculpture of Virgin Mary with the Infant Jesus in her hand was built in the mid- 14th century, but the sculpture was transported to Svatá Hora in the 16th century.
In the year 1647, the members of Jesuit order took over the governing body and administration of Svata Hora u Pribrami. They took the initiative and carried on a grand construction on Svatá Hora by converting this small place into a huge architectural structure. In the year 1673, the construction of the church was completed and was then consecrated in the same year. The year 1732 was a very special year for the Church as it received coronation during this year. The administration of the church was taken over by the Redemptorists in 1861 and performed their duties till 1950. The importance of Svatá Hora was strengthened further when it received the title of "basilica minor".
