Karel Capek was a man of many parts. One of the greatest Czech novelists of all time,
Karel Capek was an excellent playwright, a short story writer, an ideal teacher and great political thinker.
Karel Capek was born in 1890 at Male Svatonovice in Bohemia. Born to a doctor father – Antonin Capek and a homemaker mother – Bozena Capek, Karel spent a happy childhood. He enjoyed the company of highly talented family members. His brother – Josef was a famous painter while his sister Helena was a novelist.
While studying in school Karel Capek became interested in poetry and started writing poems. He received his doctorate in 1915 and was praised for his thesis. He also worked as a librarian during the first World War. He was famous for his light humored plays, which dealt with the social issues at the same time. Some of his famous works are:

His political writings were much talked about around the whole of Europe. He breathed his last in 1938.
