Vyskov



Vyskov is located in South Moravia, which is nearly 30 km northeast from Brno. The town has the natural boundaries of the Drahanska Highlands and the Hana Lowlands. The town has a number of interesting places to visit:
  • The Castle is a Gothic castle, built during the 15th century, which houses a museum exhibiting various archaeological artefacts, collection of fine arts, historical, and ethnographical collections etc.

  • The Church of the Ascension of Our Lady was built between the years 1464-1466.

  • The Castle Garden has a magnificent architecture, which existed in the 15th century.

  • The Plague Column was built by the initiative of the councilors during the outbreak of a plague epidemic. On either side of the column there are statues of St. Florian and St. John of Nepomuky.

  • There is beautiful Baroque fountain dating back to the 18th century, which has the motif of Ganymedes on an eagle.

  • The Well was originally built in 1839, but in the year 1950, Vojtech Horinek a sculptor engraved the Vyskov´s coat of arms on the well.

  • The Renaissance Town Hall was built in 1569. This magnificent structure dominates the square of Vyskov.
Vyskov is a very popular as a social, cultural and business center of the region. This district town is inhabited by 23, 000 people.
