Located in the Southern part of Poland, western part of the Ukraine, North Western part of Slovakia and North Eastern part of the Czech Republic, Beskids is one of the most important mountain ranges in the Czech Republic. The Beskids Mountains stretches from the Moravian Gate in Moravia, through the North of the Tarta Mountains and ends in the Ukraine. With an approximate length of 600 Kilometers and a width of 50 m to 70 m, the Eastern edge of the Beskids is a point of debate. While older sources argue that the sources of the Tisza River is the Eastern most point of the range, more recent research believe the Ushok Pass at the frontier of Poland -Ukraine is the limit of the Beskids.
Maximum part of the Beskids mountain range is a part of the Western Carpathian Mountains but the Bieszczady and the Lesser Beskid mountain range belongs to the Eastern Carpathians. The Beskids mountain range is also home to a number of important Rivers of Czech Republic. The Dunajec River bifurcates the Beskids mountain range into two sections of East and West. There are several important passes in the Beskids mountain range which includes, Dukla, Jablunko and Vlara.
With a rich collection of forests and coal, the Beskids range has a past history of Iron ore collection. The Beskids is also a major tourist attractor and besides its natural beauty, there are a number of historic wooden churches that add to the glamor of the place.
