In spite of a small geographical area, the varied climatic conditions and terrain has diversified the variety of Czech flora and fauna. The natural landscape of the Czech Republic is well preserved and the biological landscape of the country is also diverse. Approximately, the Czech flora and fauna includes 30,000 fungi species, 369 vertebrate species, 48,000 invertebrate species, 2,520 vascular plant species,6,180 cyano bacteria, 1,400 lichen species.
Many of the natural forests in the Czech Republic have been replaced by spruce wood but still there are a number of forests that are homes to a number of Czech flora and fauna. Czech Republic is known to have a large number of European hotspots of plant, bird and mammal diversity which are based on complimentary means. The most animal species that are found in Czech Republic includes, hare, mink, pheasants, partridges, marmot, red deer, ducks, otter, and marten.
The Czech flora and fauna includes a large number of plants which are distributed in the mountains, plateaus and lowlands of the country. Linden is a symbolic as well as the largest living tree in the country. The other commonly found trees in Czech Republic are oaks, firs and spruce.
