The demographics of Czech Republic or the former Czechoslovakia portray an interesting picture. As per the census of 2001, 90.4% of the 10.28 million denizens hail from the ethnic and linguistic background of the Czech. This apart, there is an exciting mix of 0.1% of Romans, 0.5% of Polish, 0.1% of Hungarians, 3.7% of Moravian, 1.9% of Slovaks, Greeks, Magyars, 0.4% of Germans, 0.1% of Silesian, and Vietnamese. However, these minor groups are fast assimilating except the Vietnamese, Magyars and Romans. Ukrainians are the highest group of peoples that are living in the country without a Czech citizenship.
As per the demographics of Czech Republic, the people of Czech Republic speak Czech. In some regions Silesian dialect, Moravian dialects, and Polish language is used for communication. Polish language can also be used in official purposes in Czech Republic. The Czech Republic is home to the maximum number of atheists or agnostics in European Union with the total share being 59%. The others include the followers of Christianity and Judaism. As per the estimate of 2006, 14.4% of the Czech belong to the age group of 0 - 14 years, 71.2% belong to the age group of 15–64 years and 14.4% belongs to the age group of 65 years and over.
