Several sports are played throughout the island of Cyprus. The Cyprus stadiums across the country play host to a number of national and international sporting events held all the year round. Most of the stadiums have a seating capacity to fit in thousands of people. During any popular sporting event the galleries are absolutely packed with capacity crowd. The capital city of Nicosia has several stadiums in it. The biggest among them is the Neo GSP Stadium built in 2000 with a seating capacity of 23,400 people. Then there is the Makario Stadium capable of accommodating a crowd of 16,000 people. The Eleftheria Stadium at Nicosia is a comparatively smaller stadium with a capacity of 6000 only. The other Cyprian city of Limassol is the home to the Tsirion Stadium, the Olympia Stadium and the Pavlos Giannakopoulos. While the Tsirion Stadium can play host to 13,152 spectators the other two stadiums in Limassol can only admit 2500 to 3000 people. These stadiums while hosting important sporting events with the crowd cheering its favorite team make the atmosphere come alive.
