Makario Stadium is situated at Makedonitissa at Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus. Tsirion Stadium was set up in the year 1978.

Makario Stadium of Cyprus is used for various purposes. Before the establishment of the new GSP Stadium during the year 1999, Makario Stadium was the biggest as well as the main sports venue of Nicosia. Recently, this stadium is largely utilized for football matches.

The home ground of the sports club Digenis Morphou is the Makario Stadium. A running track encircles the playing area of the stadium. As Makario Stadium is constructed near the grounds of the Cyprus State Fair so it shares a big car parking zone during the time of fair.

The capacity of Makario Stadium is 16,000 people. The tenant of Makario Stadium is Digenis Morphou.

For many years Makario Stadium has served Nicosia sports teams such as Olympiakos and AC Omonia APOELFC as their home ground.

In the past many home matches were played by the Cypriot national team in Makario Stadium. Now most of the teams have shifted to New GSP Stadium.

Numerous Cyprus Cup and the finals of Super Cup was held in Makario Stadium. For hosting the 1989 Games of the Small States of Europe this stadium was selected as the chief venue.

Makario Stadium in Cyprus was named after Makarios III who was the Archbishop as well as the first President in Cyprus.
