Cyprus Football Association is the official body of several football teams in Cyprus. The association organizes all the football tournaments of the country. The emergence and popularity of this game in Cyprus was seen in the late 1990s. Over the years, football has become one of the most popular sports in Cyprus. Several clubs have been formed under the
Cyprus Football Association. The most important clubs under the football associations of Cyprus are Cyprus Cup, Cyprus FA Shield, Cyprus First Division and Cypriot national football team.
With the popularity of the game, the clubs decided to have a governing body and thus there was the emergence of the Cyprus Football Association. In the year 1934, this association was formed and tournaments were organized in short span of time. Again in the year 1948, it became an active member of the FIFA organization and in 1962, a member of the UEFA.
