Jose Marti is a famous Cuban poet, journalist and essayist born in 1853 during the peak hours of Cuban war of independence from the regime of the Spanish Monarch. Joseph Marti had indeed a multidimensional influence be it in literary work or politics. An exponent of his rebellious times, Marti's philosophy influenced the patriotic feelings of the Cuban Americans. Jose Marti graduated from Saragossa after which he moved to Mexico. His literary collection such as Ismaelillo, written in 1882, Versos sencillos (1891) and Versos Libre are the 3 major collection of his poems. His works reflect the Latin American spirit of rebellion.

Jose Marti was actively involved in the political revolution of Cuba. He was killed in an encounter in the year 1895.
