Gilberto Calderon,also known as Joe Cuba, is the legendary figure in the history of Cuban music. He was born in New York city in 1931. He was the founder and band leader of Joe Cuba Sextet. He is considered to be the first Latino/Nuyorrican Salsa artist who has brought a revolution in the genre of Cuban music by including English lyrics in his songs like Sock It To Me. His group-the Joe Cuba Sextet is home to the timbales, vibraphones, piano, bass and singer.
