Narciso Lopez created the Cuba Flag in 1849 when the freedom movements in Cuba
started gaining momentum. The Flag of Cuba is popularly known as a "Lone Star". The colors that are used in the flag were carefully decided upon so that the flag could properly represent the deep Cuban desire for freedom. It is important to mention here, that several attempts have been made initially to come up with a suitable flag for the independent Cuba before the present flag was finally accepted. The very first Cuba Flag was created in 1800s by Joaquin Infante.
Importance of Cuba Flag
Cuba Flag consists of a red triangle, three blue stripes and two white stripes which have their own significance. The red colored star signifies the countless sacrifices of lives that have been made in order to gain freedom from Spanish rule. Three blue stripes stand for the three significant provinces of Cuba. Again, the two white stripes represent the determination of the freedom fighters, which actually helped to win independence for the country. Within the red star or triangle, there is a five sided white colored star which strongly expresses the "freedom between nations".
Cuba Flag subsequently influenced the designing of the national flag of some other countries such as Puerto Rica and Philippines.
