Ireland will be playing at the World Cup for the first time this year. They have been placed with Pakistan, the West Indies and Zimbabwe in Group D. They play their first match against Zimbabwe at the Sabina Park ground in Kingston on 15 March.
Then they take on the mighty Pakistani team on 17 March at the same venue. They finish their group stage proceedings against the West Indies on 23 March. The Irish team had finished runner up in the ICC Trophy in 2005. By virtue of this result, they made it to the World Cup.
