: Andrew Hall is an all-rounder and started out as bowler who can bat a little. Slowly he improved his batting and soon enough he started opening the batting for South Africa. He got his maiden call-up for the national side in 1999 and made his debut against Bangladesh. After playing a couple of matches he was left out of the national side and again came into the picture in 2003. Since then he has been a regular in the national squad. In 76 One-day Internationals so far, hall has scored 843 runs at an average of 22.78. He scores his runs at a strike-rate of 74.46 and has three fifties to his name. His highest score in international cricket is 81. As a bowler, Hall has taken 79 wickets with his best being 4/23. On three occasions he has taken four wickets in an innings.
Hall has played in three matches at the World Cup so far. He has scalped five wickets in them with his best being 2/15. He had only one opportunity to bat and has scored 22 not out in that. Hall is lucky enough to be alive as he was shot at from point-black range in front of an ATM counter in 1996. A bullet had pierced his left hand but he recovered from it and won his place in the national side a few years later.
