Sir Vivian Richards Stadium
This
stadium in Antigua has the capacity to hold 20,000 seats of which 10,000 will be permanent. Located between the city and the airport, the
stadium is constructed in collaboration with the Government of the Peoples Republic Of China. It is built halfway between the capital St. John's and the country's international airport, VC Bird International Airport. The
stadium can also accommodate twice the seating capacity with the help of temporary stands. The Sir Vivian Richards Stadium with seven playing pitches will be witness to the Super-8 matches.
The stadium named after the island's most famous player, Sir Vivian Richards, replaced the Antigua Recreation Ground and became the major venue in Antigua. Established in 2006, the eastern and western sides of the stadium are made up of terraces that offer a wonderful overview of the island. This world-class ultra modern stadium is one of the top four cricket stadiums in the world.
