The 1983 Cricket World Cup tournament, the third world cup was held in England for the third consecutive time. Around 8 teams participated in the tournament in which 27 matches were played. The matches consisted of 60 overs each.
The first match in the tournament between England and New Zealand was held at The Kensington Oval Stadium in London. This stadium with 23,500 seating capacity also hosted India v West Indies match and the 2nd Semi Final match between Pakistan and West Indies. The Old Trafford Cricket Ground with a seating capacity of 19,000 was a venue to the three important matches of the tournament such as Group B match between India and West Indies, Group A England v Pakistan match and Semi-Final match between England and India.
The Group A England v Sri Lanka match was held at County Ground in Taunton. The Edgbaston at Birmingham hosted the Group A matches between New Zealand and Pakistan and England and New Zealand. The Group B West Indies v Zimbabwe match was also held n this stadium that has a capacity to hold 21,000 people. The Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds that has a seating capacity of 14,000 was a venue to the Group B match between Australia and West Indies and Group A matches between Pakistan and Sri Lanka and England and Sri Lanka. The County Ground at Southampton that can hold 7000 people was a witness to the Group B Australia v Zimbabwe match and the Group A match between New Zealand and Sri Lanka was held at County Ground in Derby, which has the capacity to manage 9500 people. The Nevill Ground at Tunbridge Wells with a seating capacity of 4500 hosted the Group B match between India and Zimbabwe and the Group B match between Australia and India was held at the County Ground in Chelmsford, that has a seating capacity of 6,500.
