Though finally conquered by the Arabs who induced the spread of Islam, Tajikistan still retains a lot of Chinese influences. The term “Tajik” is representative of people who are Iranian by descent and speak Persian. So, “Tajikistan” means ‘land inhabited by the Tajiks'.
