INTRODUCTION

In the ancient era, the country Moldova was a part of the Principality of Moldavia. In the year 1812, the Russian Empire captured the territory of Moldova. However it took more than a century to regain the their independence and then Moldova united with the Lands of Romania in the year 1918.

LOCATION OF MOLDOVA

The Republic of Moldova is located in the eastern region of the European continent. In the west side of the country, lies Romania. On the other hand Ukraine surrounds the southern and the eastern side of the country. Moldova is a landlocked nation.

Moldova is situated in the location between Romania and Ukraine. In the southern region of the country you will find Autonomous Region. On the other hand in the eastern region of the country lies the Transdniestrian region. Some of the central regions of the country are characterized by small hills. Sand, gravel, gypsum, limestone etc can be found in this country in huge quantity. The Dniestr and the Prut are the two primary rivers of the country. Dniestr flows in the eastern region of the country and Prut in the western region. Carpathians is the source of these rivers. Dealul Balanesti claims the highest altitude of the country. It rises almost 430 meter above the sea level. On the other hand the Dniester River is the lowest point of Moldova. It goes down up to 2 meters below the sea.

CLIMATE OF MOLDOVA

The climate of Moldova can be termed as continental. Especially the central region of the country is known for its moderate climate. The summer months are warm and pleasant. This season lingers a long time in the country. Then again the winter months are comparatively cooler. Winter months also suffers from rainfalls. However summer days are much more affected by heavy rainfalls.

FLORA AND FAUNA OF MOLDOVA

•  Flora : The vegetation of the country Moldova is dependent on the climactic conditions of the different region of the country. The vegetable such as various fruits, grains, sugar beets, tobacco and many other species grow largely in the forests of the country.
