INTRODUCTION : The Republic of Malta can be called an archpelago. In the group of islands there are total seven members. In the country the roadsides are characterised by the cathedrals that wewre builtt in the Renaissance period. The baroque palaces are also great intances of the architectural genius of the countrymen.

LOCATION OF MALTA : Malta is situated in the southern region of the European continent.

The neighboring countruies that shar their borders with malta are Sicily in the southern region, Tunisia in the eastern region and Libya in the northeren region.

PHYSICAL MAP OF MALTA : The group of islands in the Mediterranean Sea is known as Malta. It is located in the south corner of the European continent. Among all those islands only three have a climate, suitable for living. Except Malta the other two islands are Gozo or Ghawdex and Comino or Kemmuna. In Malta the highest altitude is claimed by the peak Ta' Dmejrek that rises above the sea level up to 253 meters. It is situated near Dingli. On the other hand the lowest point of the country is the Mediterranean Sea that is the sea level.

CLIMATE OF MALTA : Before you visit the country Malta you must get some details about the climate there. You must know the best time to visit the country so that you can enjoy your trip fully. Malta's climate can be termed as a Mediterranean climate. The winter months are pleasing and characterized with frequent rainfalls. On the other hand the summer months are comparatively hotter and also arid. The months of January and February remain very cold and rainy. Besides that a cold wind blows over the land of Malta through out the year.

FLORA AND FAUNA OF MALTA :

Flora : Since Malta is an island; the climate does not permit many species of trees. A few species of some plants such as grape, bay, olive and so on are found in the country. Carob and fig can also be found in some regions. In the mountainous region some unique species of rock plants are found in Malta.

Fauna : Like the flora of the country, the animal world is also not very rich with various species. Some of the native animals that can be seen are the weasel, bat, hedgehog and so on. Among the other varieties, you will find tortoises, turtles, butterflies; different species of lizard, rabbits, mice etc. the latter ones were not there previously in the country. However these were brought to the nation. Some sea animals like seal and porpoise and some other varieties of fishes can also be found here.
