PEOPLE OF MALTA : To talk about the origin of the people of Malta, they belong to the prehistoric Carthaginians and Phoenicians groups. Italian influence was also there in them. Those groups include the French, English, Arab, Greek and Spanish inhabitants. Th total population of the county is almost 400,214. The major portion of this number is covered by the native Maltese people.

ART, CULTURE AND MUSIC OF MALTA :

Art : Malta's architecture has been influenced greatly by the western countries. In some villages handicrafts are being made. Dun Karm should be mentioned as a famous poet of the country.

Culture: Malta has developed a diverse culture in the presence of the ethnic groups. A popular music festival known as Malta Jazz Festival is held in the month of July.

Music: The music of Malta is highly influenced by the western countries. “Ghana” is a very common form of music in this country. The utterance of the word is like “aana”. It is a sort of musical argument accompanied with guitar. This interesting debate is a result of continuous practice of the artists before performing the art. Western European Mode and Arabic mode are used in combination in this art form. Tambourine is another musical instrument that is mainly used for the folk music of the country. Some of the band music is also becoming popular in Malta.

FLAG OF MALTA : The flag of a nation is of high respect and great importance. It not only bears the individuality of the country, but also bears some symbolic significance. The flag of Malta contains two bands that are vertical. The hoist side band is colored in white and the other one is red. In the white band there is a symbolic illustration of George Cross. The borderline of the George Cross is colored in red. In the year 1942 King George VI awarded this George Cross to the republic of Malta for bravery. In the flag the color red is symbolic of vigor and bloodshed. On the other hand white signifies peace.

ECONOMY OF MALTA : The economy of the country Malta is highly dependent on the three grounds that are foreign trade, tourism and fabricating. The agricultural products of the country are mainly tomatoes, cauliflower, grapes, barley, potatoes, citrus, cut flowers, wheat and so on. Some of the growing industries in Malta are tourism industry, shipbuilding industry, textile industry, footwear and tobacco industry etc. The states that are involved in the export business with Malta are France, Singapore, UK, Germany, Italy and Libya. In Malta limestone is found in huge quantity.
