People of Virgin Islands : the original inhabitants of the islands are the people of the Awarak Indian and the Carib Indian races. However, the subsequent chequered history of the islands led to the arrival of people of several other races and cultures. So, now along with the original Indians, dark-skinned, white, Asians, West Indian, Puerto Rican, Hispanic and mixed races and others are also to be found.
Arts, Culture and Music of Virgin Islands : initially inhabited by Indians of the Arawak and Carib races, the Virgin Islands now comprise of a diverse and multicultural population. The traditional music of the islands is called the “Quelbe” which is sung with the aid of a musical instrument called ‘scratch bands'. Folk music is also popular in the islands.
