PEOPLE OF EQUATORIAL GUINEA
The population of Equatorial Guinea is separated into several ethnic groups namely the Fang, Bubi, Bisio, Bujeba, Ndowe, Combe and Annobónese community.
The official language of the region is Spanish. Though French is even widely accepted.
Greeting is considered as an important gesture among the local natives residing in this region. People indulge in social interaction where touching or conversing close to one other is considered important as it shows due respect between one another.
ARTS, CULTURE AND MUSIC OF EQUATORIAL GUINEA
Art: The Equatorial Guinea is known for traditionally designing sculpture or indulging in mask making. Fang art is an abstract form of art that is quite popular here within the region.
Culture: The rich culture of this region is influenced and motivated with Spanish domain derieving since the colonial period. Abira is their local festival that clean away all kinds of community evil which is celebrated in a big way. The balélé dance can be seen along the coastal region every year during the Christmas time in Bioko.
Music: The Fang community are recognised by their mvet music which is a blend between the zither and a harp. The place is famous for its music styles which includes soukous and makossa's Pan African styles. Apart from these reggae and rock and roll are also quite in vogue. The balélé and the risque ibanga are the main native dance of this region, which is accompanied with sanza, xylophone, drums, zithers, and bow harps instruments. Ibanga is the popular Fang dance of the region.
