PEOPLE OF COCOS (KEELING) ISLANDS
Recorded inhabitants of the Cocos Island amounts to about 629 as it was witnessed in the year 2004. The basic ethnic groups of this region include the Europeans placed quitely on the West Island, and the Malays placed on the Home Island. Malay and English are the main regional language spoken here where majority of population being from the Sunni Muslim religion. The people of this region are quite friendly in nature and resort to quick aquaintances with tourists in short period.
ARTS, CULTURE AND MUSIC OF COCOS (KEELING) ISLANDS
Rich in its cultural aspects where the local natives celebrate various traditional events, which includes the festival of Easter, New Year, Christmas and many others. Participate in the Lagoon swim, which is held annually where a competition of swimming is held as one swim's from the Home Island to the West Island. The other events that are encouraged in this region are the Cocos Ball, quiz nights, Music & Wine festival, Ardmona Cup and the Cocos Olympics.
