PEOPLE OF BELIZE

The official language of Belize is English but Spanish is the mother tongue of this region. The main ethic groups that constitute the Belize population are Mestizo, Creole, Ketchi, Yucatec and Mopan Mayas, Garifuna and East Indian that well preserves the ethnic divergence and their distinct uniqueness. The people are very courteous in nature and for them greeting is important.

ARTS, CULTURE AND MUSIC OF BELIZE

Participate in the Belize International Film Festival, which is held annually in this wonderful place, which expresses the true culture of the place along with felicitating and recognizing the works of well-known artists in town.

FLAG OF BELIZE

It was during the independence from United Kingdom the national flag of Belize came into existence on 21 September 1981. The flag was constituted in 1950 when British Honduras (the name it had during the colonial era) won its victory. The two stripes which was added in the flag came into existence with Belizean coat of arms situated in the centre. This symbol of coat of arms shows how the tree mahogany and its utilisation in the makingof boats is of important to the local residents.

ECONOMY OF BELIZE

The economical development of Belize depends mainly on agriculture and tourism. The trade in agricultural industry is a major factor of progress of the economy in Belize. There is huge demand of bananas, citrus, cocoa, sugarcane, lobster and fish in the present day scenario. The farmers have even started cultivation of shrimp, tilapia fish and other staple fruits like papayas and cashews. The discovery of petroleum deposits in the Cayo District and in the Toledo District has opened venues for mining and manufacturing capabilities in Belize.
