The two major categories are artistic and rhythmic gymnastics; in the rhythmic category only women can participate. There are 60 medals to be won in various categories of gymnastics at the Commonwealth Games 2010.
Brief about the game
Gymnastics have to display their best skills in rhythm, agility, fitness, movement and precision among other things at the games. For the men and women Artistic category, one country can field 5 participants each and for women Rhythmic gymnastics category there can be 3 participants from a country.
Rules
The rules and regulations of gymnastics depend on the category. Some of them are similar while some of them are different. A gymnast is allowed only one attempt with one apparatus. Athletes can wear leather grips and bandages to increase the roughness of their gear. If interrupted by an external factor, gymnasts can repeat their performance.
