In total there are 40 medals to be won for boxing at the Commonwealth Games 2010. There are 10 gold medals, 10 silver medals and 20 bronze medals which can be won by players from the various commonwealth countries.

The fours basic punches which are allowed in a game of boxing are uppercut, cross, jab and hook. Awareness about proper defense is an important part of this sport. Boxing is a popular sport and many people come to see the bouts.
Rules
Rules of International Boxing Association (AIBA) will be followed during 2010 Commonwealth Games. It will be played on knockout format and winners in each bout will proceed further. Only one athlete from a country can take part in a single boxing bout.

At the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games, Australia won a total of 8 medals for boxing. The country won five gold medals, which is the highest number of gold medals won in 2006 in this category. India won 1 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals in Melbourne. South Africa won 1 gold and 1 silver; while Namibia won 1 gold medal.
