Badminton



Badminton was introduced for the first time in commonwealth games in the 1966 Commonwealth Games. The first Indian to win a medal for badminton at the commonwealth games


was Prakash Padukone in the 1978 commonwealth games. In 2010 commonwealth games, 6 events are included for badminton.

Brief about the game



Badminton at 2010 Commonwealth Games will feature six events. Apart from singles, doubles and mixed doubles events there will be a team event as well. A maximum of 5 players from each country can participate in the various events. There are a total of 18 medals, which can be won at Commonwealth Games 2010.

Rules



There are no special set of rules and regulations for badminton at Commonwealth Games 2010. In the team event, 5 players from each country can participate. The various disciplines for team matches are one men's singles, one women's singles, one men's double, one women's double and one mixed doubles match.



Categories and events


Badminton events consist of games for both men and women. For men's and women's events the categories are singles and doubles. There are also mixed doubles and team categories in this event.
