Pamplona

Pamplona is a small town situated in Norte de Santander in Colombia. Apart from being a town, Pamplona in Colombia also functions as a municipality. This city located in the South-American country of Colombia was first inhabited by the individuals known as Chitareros, who were the natives. This unique name was given by the Spanish people as the males had the habit of carrying 'calabazo' or 'totumo' accompanied by 'chicha' on their waist. Actually, it was a type of wine that was obtained from maize.

There was a time, when Pamplona was completely under the rule of Pedro de Ursua and Ortun Velasco, who had relocated the native people thriving in the city of Pamplona at Colombia to the regime of 'encomiendas'. As a matter of fact, 53 encomiendas had to accommodate approximately 100 groups of the 'capetanejos'.

Pamplona of Colombia had also served host to the New Granadian revolution that commenced from the 4th of July in the year 1810. Due to this fact, the city had earned a nickname of 'Patriotic City' which was awarded by Simon Bolivar.

The city produces sumptuous amounts of potato which serves to be the principle product obtained from agriculture. Amongst other agricultural products of the city Pamplona, some are mentioned below:-
