There are a large number of sports festivals hosted in Colombia as all the residents of this Latin American country are very enthusiastic and passionate about sports. These include the following events:-
1938 Bolivarian Games: The capital city of Colombia, Bogota had hosted this multi-sport event in the year of 1938. It was to celebrate the city's 400th anniversary. It was the Bolivian Sports Organization that had organized this game.
1961 Bolivarian Games: In the year 1961, this multi-sport event was held in the city of Barranquilla.
2005 Bolivarian Games: On this occasion, this event was held partially in Pereira and Armenia.
1982 FIBA World Championship: It was hosted from the 15th to the 28th of April in the year 1982. It is an international basketball competition.
Copa America 2001: This event was held in Colombia from 11th July to the 29th of July in the year 2001. CONBEMOL, the official governing body of the South American football had taken the responsibility of hosting this mega event.
Central American and Caribbean Games: Amongst all the various sports festivals hosted in Colombia, this event has been hosted thrice. The first time was in the year 1946 from 5th to 25th March. The second time was in the year 1978 from 7th July to 28th July. The third and final time was in the year 2006 from 15th July to 30th July. This time this event was held in Cartagena de Indias, a Colombian city.
Clasico RCN: A cycle road race that takes place in Colombia once every year. It is organized by the Colombian Cycling Organization.
Vuelta a Colombia: It is another very popular cycle road race that also takes place in Colombia. This event is also organized by the Colombian Cycling Organization.
