Colombia information pertains to the basic facts about the country of Colombia. The basic information about Colombia includes some knowledge about the geography, history, politics and economics of the country.

Colombia is located in the continent called South America. The country is officially called Republic of Colombia. Its capital city is Bogota. The total area of the country is 1.2 million square kms. It holds the fourth position in terms of area among all the countries in the continent.

The climate is cold enough on the higher regions and tropical on the eastern places and the coast. The natural resources are petroleum, coal, iron ore, natural gas, gold, nickel, copper, silver, emerald and platinum.
The important political parties of the country are Conservative Party of Colombia, Polo Democratico and Liberal Party. Regarding Colombia economy, the GDP is $366.7 billion as of 2006. The government of Colombia is a republican government.



The country boasts of a couple of industries, which form a significant part of basic Colombia information. These industries are associated with chemicals, textiles, cement, metal items, containers made up of cardboard and beverages. The different products of agriculture are coffee, cotton, bananas, rice, sugarcane, corn, tobacco, soybeans, sorghum and potatoes. The total population of the country is 43,593,035 (data of year 2005). The national language of the country is Spanish. The different ethnic groups who reside in this country are mestizo 58%, mulatto 14%, white 20%, Amerindian - black 3%, black 4% and Amerindian 1%.
