Aden




Aden is one of the most important Yemeni cities, 105 miles away the Bab-el-Mandeb. The old natural harbor of this city is situated in the crater of an inactive volcano. Currently, this harbor has formed a peninsula and a low isthmus
has joined this peninsula to the mainland. This harbor is believed to have been first used by the Awsan kingdom.

Presently, Aden has an approximate population of 590,000. The distinct divisions of Aden are as follows:
  • Crater, the Yemeni port city
  • Ma'alla, the modern port
  • Tawahi, popularly known as "Steamer Point" in past
  • Resorts of Gold Mohur
  • Khormaksar
