Union Station of Washington DC is one of the most famous tourist spot in the city. The exotic architecture of this building still marvels visitors even after a century. The formation of Union Station began in the year 1907 and by 1908 the construction was completed. The designer of this historical monument was Daniel Burnham who was inspired by Roman architecture and the Beaux-Arts style. The beautiful arches in the front of this monument were inspired by Roman architecture. During its inception Union Station of Washington DC was the largest train station in the world. The main themes of American Renaissance are depicted on the sculptures in Union Station.
The building was given a make over to help it regain its lost splendor through renovation which was completed in 1988.The Union Station was fully commercialized during this time with the inclusion of numerous shops and restaurants to attract more and more visitors. Now days the old station has evolved into a fashion and souvenir hubs for tourists and for the residents. There are also movie theatres and posh restaurants in Union station Washington DC.

Baltimore & Ohio Railroads, Atlantic Coast Line railroad, Fredericksburg & Potomac Railroads are dew of the railroads which the Union Station at Washington DC serves. The recent statistics declare that 32 million people visit the Union Station every year but the idea that everyone comes to board a train would be false as in resent years it has developed as famous shopping destination with all famous brands congregated in one place.
