The formation of Union Station Washington DC began in the year 1907 and by 1908 the construction was completed. The designer of this historical monument was Daniel Burnham who was inspired by Roman architecture and the Beaux-Arts style. The beautiful arches in the front of this monument were inspired by Roman architecture.
During inception Union Station Washington DC was planned to be the largest train station in the world. The main themes of American Renaissance are depicted on the sculptures in Union Station. The building was given a makeover to help it regain its lost splendor through renovation which was completed in 1988.
