Vicksburg High School is one of the better known schools in Vicksburg. The Gator is the popular mascot for the Vicksburg High School . About 150 years old, the High School presently teaches 1083 Public School students from Grades 9 to 12. Along with the Warren Central High School, Vicksburg High School is part of Vicksburg-Warren School District in Vicksburg, MS.
Vicksburg High School is an nationally accredited School and the accreditation process helps the school to initiate and carry out academic and curriculum based programs for students with regard to the students' aptitude and ability. The Vicksburg High School offers intensive courses in English, Psychology, Spanish, French, Calculus, Biology and Art. The High School students are tested with the Mississippi Subject Assessment Testing Program (SATP). The Assessment tests students learning aptitude in English II, writing, algebra I, biology I and U.S. History. SATP is a standards-based test, meaning it assesses student aptitude and ability in learning certain specific skill sets defined for each grade by the state.

The Vicksburg Warren School District is responsible for imparting education to 8898 students in 15 schools from Kindergarten to High School. The School district relies on the Mississippi Curriculum Test (MCT) to assess student performance in grades 2 through 8 in reading, language arts and math and the SATP.
