Vicksburg is a city in the U.S state of Mississippi. Incorporated in 1825, the city was named after Newitt Vick, a Protestant minister. Nicknamed as 'The Gibraltar of Confederacy', the city faced powerful attacks in1862. It was the site of the Battle of Vicksburg during the Civil War. It is a city in Warren County and is the county seat of Warren County.

Area & Location: Lies 234 miles north by west of New Orleans on the Mississippi and Yazoo rivers, Vicksburg is located at 32º20'10? Latitude North and 90º52'31? Longitude West. It covers a total area of 91.3 sq. km with 85.2 sq. km of land and 6.2 sq. km of water. It has a population of 26,407.
