Tampa is a city in the U.S state of Florida. The meaning of the name 'Tampa' is "sticks of fire". England acquired Florida in 1763 and the bay was called Hillsborough Bay. Tampa was incorporated on January 18, 1849 and was reincorporated as a town on December 15, 1855. It is now a major U.S city in Hillsborough County and the county seat of Hillsborough County.
