In the mid western region of the US comprising of the 5 states of Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota and Wisconsin, the Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport is the largest and the most crucial one in the area. Being the 19 th largest in the world, it serves St Paul and Minnesota. Located in the Fort Snelling area of Minnesota, the airport is just minutes away from America's largest shopping area, The Mall of America.

Northwest Airlines, Champion Air, Sun Country Airlines, Mesaba Airlines and Pinnacle Airlines uses this airport as their headquarters. The airport is registered under the Metropolitan Airports Commission. Originally called the Speedway Field, the airport became the Wold-Chamberlain Field during the first World War. It was designated with its present name of Minneapolis-St Paul Metropolitan Airport in 1944.

The 2 terminals within the airport is named after famous aviator Charles Lindbergh and the other after former US President Hubert Humphrey. The Lindbergh terminal houses 7 concourses while the Humphrey terminal has just 1 concourse. The airport is served by the Minnesota State Highway 5 and the Interstate 494. concourse A to D and also F of the Lindbergh terminal is used by Northwest Airlines.

Concourse E is used by flights of Air Canada, American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta air Lines, America West, Frontier Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways, KLM Royal and Dutch Airlines.
These are mostly domestic airlines operating within the US.

The Humphrey terminal is used by AirTran Airways, Icelandair, Midwest Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, Miami Air, Ryan International and XTRA Airways. The airport caters to a vast array of passengers wanting to travel via international, domestic or regional airlines to numerous places across the globe.
