Shreveport, Louisiana





Shreveport is a city in the U.S state of Louisiana. Founded in 1836 by the Shreve Town Company as a town, it was incorporated as city on March 20, 1839. It became the Confederate capital in April 1865. It is the commercial and cultural center of the Ark-La-Tex and is known as "Gateway to East Texas". It is the third largest city and the third largest metropolitan area in the state.

Area & Location: Lies at the area where Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas meet, the city is situated on the border between the South and West. Located at 32º28'5? Latitude North and 93º46'16? Longitude West, the city covers a total area of 305.1 sq. km with 267.1 sq. km of land and 37.9 sq. km of water. It has a population of 198,675 with a density of 749.2 per sq. km.
