Seattle Tacoma International Airport

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is more popular as Sea-Tac Airport. The location of Seattle Tacoma International Airport is in between Seattle (13 miles south) and Tacoma (20 miles north). It takes around 30 minutes from Seattle and 40 minutes from Tacoma to reach this airport. The airport is a gateway to the magnificent Pacific Rim. Port of Seattle had constructed the Seattle-Tacoma Airport in the year 1944 to provide an airway transport hub for the civilians of the region. Before 1944, Boeing Field was the operating airport in the region, which was overtaken by the U.S. military during World War II.

SeaTac Airport is the base for Alaska Airlines and more than 25 other domestic and international airlines serves at the airport. There are several nonstop international flights flying to and from SeaTac airport, connecting over 50 destinations in the United States and around 15 international destinations including Canada, Asia, Mexico and Europe. The Seattle airport has one main terminal with 4 concourses and 2 satellite terminals. The main terminal is connected to the satellite terminals by an underground train system. SeaTac airport is undergoing a multi-year capital improvement project, which is scheduled to be completed in 2010.

Rental cars are the easiest mode of transportation available from the city to reach the airport, which recommend prior reservation because of high demand. The car rental counter is available outside the main terminal. The scheduled buses on routes 174, 184, 194 and 340 are means of cheap and fast transportation to various destinations within the city. Hotel shuttles, Metro and Sound Transit are also good transport means for reaching Seattle from SeaTac Airport.

Other than the major operating airlines, Alaska Airlines (gate location: Concourse C and D), there are several other airlines operating in SeaTac airport. Some of the important ones are Air Canada, America West, Asiana, American Airlines, Continental Airlines, China
Airlines, British Airways, Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines, Frontier Airlines, EVA Air, JetBlue Airways, Horizon Air, US Airways, Northwest Airlines, Korean Air, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, Sun Country and many more.
