Seattle Public Schools is the largest school district in Washington and the 44th largest in the United States. These schools and their teachers are committed to bring out the latent talent in each student and to steer them to achieve academic excellence.

There are 97 schools under Seattle Public Schools with 45,800 students enrolled in them. A broad spectrum of learning opportunities is available to the students. The public schools in Seattle have a strong support from the parents, volunteers and the community members. There are several kindergarten, elementary, middle and high schools under the schools district.

Seattle Public Schools have recognized that children achieve higher and better grades when family participation is encouraged. Involvement of families brings about a positive attitude in the students regarding education. With this objective in view, Office of Family and Community Partnerships (OFCP) was formed. Funded by the City of Seattle's Families and Education Levy, it strengthens the links between schools and families.

The extensive curriculum of the public schools in Seattle are chalked out in a way to ensure consistency and continuity in the academic career of the student. For uniformity, the same basic program is taught in each school to all the students of the same grade in the respective subjects. The Board of Directors of the Seattle Public School district consists of seven members, who are elected through ballot by the registered voters in the district. The official tenure of the Board of Directors is four years. The newly elected Board members are sworn in once the election results are certified by the King County Canvassing Board.

Ballard High School, The Center School, Chief Sealth High School and Benjamin Franklin High School are the different high schools. Denny Middle School, Eckstein Middle School, Hamilton Middle School are the reputed middle schools of the district of Seattle public schools. The Beacon Hill Elementary School, BF Day Elementary School and the Arbor Heights Elementary School feature as the popular elementary schools
