Seattle P-I first started as the Seattle Gazette, founded by J R Watson. The newspaper did not do well after few years Sam Maxwell took over in 1881 and renamed it as Weekly Intelligencer. After merging with the Intelligencer the news daily was named Seattle Post Intelligencer. In 1921 William Randolph Hearst bought the newspaper and till date, Hearst Corporation is the owner of this news daily. Roger Oglesby is the publisher and David McCumber is the editor of Seattle Post Intelligencer.
