The Plum Creek Timber Company in Seattle is one of the largest and the geographically most diverse timberland owner in United States. The company started off as Burlington resources on June 8, 1989 and was converted into a real estate investment trust on July 1, 1999. The headquarters of the Plum Creek Company is in Seattle.

The primary business of Plum Creek Timber is to manage and own timberlands in the United States. As recorded in 2004, around 7.8 million acres of land were owned and managed by the company. It owns some of the best timberlands in the northwest, southern and northeast United States. The non profitable timberlands are sold away by the company. Plum Creek Timber Company also produces products made out of softwood lumber. These products are then sold to the domestic lumber retailers so that they can use it for repair and remodeling. Some of these products are also used in house construction. The different wood products are renowned for their superior
quality.
