The Mayor of Seattle is elected every four years by the registered voters of Seattle. The Executive department of Seattle is headed by the Mayor of the city. The Seattle Mayor is the directing authority over all the departments and offices of Seattle except those offices in which the City Charter grants the authority to another office. The other offices and departments, who help in the functioning of the Mayor include City Attorney's Office and the City Council. The Municipal Court also functions in the maintenance of law & order in the city of Boston. There are eight judges in the Municipal Court and they are also elected by the registered voters. Since 2001, the office of the Mayor of Seattle is held by Greg Nickels.
