Mariners Seattle

Seattle Mariners is the name of a major league baseball team established in Seattle, Washing. They belong to the West Division of the American League. They became a part of the league along with the Toronto Blue Jays in the 1977. The Seattle Mariners' history has been of failure till the year 2000. In the year 2001, they matched the 1906 Chicago Cubs and showed remarkable performance managing to win 116 games. Apart from this feat, Seattle Mariners is just one of the five teams who have never competed in the World Series. Mariners Seattle is owned by the video game company Nintendo.

The Seattle Mariners played their first game on April6, 1977 at Kingdome when they lost 7-0 to California Angels. From 1970 till 1980 they had a continuous record of failure. In the year 1991 the Seattle Mariners tasted their first mining season, after a sorry performance in the year 1990. In the year 1993, the Seattle Mariners were put under the able leadership of Lou Piniella and started showing. The mariners began with 2-8 record but won the 9 out of the next 10 games trailing just 2 games behind the Texas Rangers, who were leading the division. This season, however, remained incomplete due to the Players' strike.
The year 1995 also proved to be a season of failure for the Seattle Mariners when they were 13 games behind the winners California Angels. In September, however, Mariners Seattle won 25 out of their 36 games to overtake the Angels and make the playoffs for the first time. The team again won their first division title in the year 1997. The years 1998 & 1999 witnessed poor performances on the part of the Seattle Mariners. In the year 2000, the Mariners gained a little reputability when they were the wild card winners. The year 2001 proved to be the most successful season of the times for the Seattle Mariners. In the year 2001 the mariners were the leaders of the Major Leagues and won the American League West division championship. They equaled with the wins of 116 set by the Chicago cubs in 1906. In the years 2002 & 2003, the Seattle Mariners started well but were unsuccessful in maintaining their fast start.
