Jimi Hendrix was born of Johnny Allen Hendrix and loved to listen R&B collections and blues records in his childhood. Jimmy possessed a natural talent of playing guitar. Soon he joined army in 1961 and traveled to Ft. Knox and Kentucky. changed his name to "Jimi". In the same year, on October 6, the globally known band - Jimi Hendrix Experience was formed.The band was headed by Jimi, Mitch Mitchell on drums and Noel Redding on bass. The trio gave its smashing hit "Hey Joe" at the end of 1966. After some rocking hits like "Are You Experienced?", "Purple Haze" and "Wind Cries Mary", the band shifted to Seattle.
Jimmy soon offered the hit Axis: Bold as Love to the United States.
The increasing fame of the band came to an end, when Mitchell and Redding quit the team. Jimmy came back with Mitchell to form the Band of Gypsys. They played at the Art Fair and Woodstock Music in New York. Jimmy once again stunned the crowd with his remixed version of "The Star Spangled Banner." In 1970, Jimmy produced two albums, one was a jazz combination with Gil Evans and the other being "The First Ray of the New Rising Sun". The unbridled talent of Jimmy brought about several outstanding songs in the history of Seattle.
