Elliot Bay, an important water-body, on which Seattle is situated, is very important from the point of view of the city's geography. Elliot Bay is also regarded to be a part of the Puget Sound, an estuary in which salt water from the ocean mingles with fresh water from the surrounding land.

The area around Elliot Bay is very famous. Queen Anne Hill in the neighborhood of the Bay is popular as one of the highest hills in the country. This 11- acre park uses 4,100 linear feet of coastline and a 400- foot fishing pier.

It is open to the public from 6 AM to 11 PM and is popular for its facilities like tackle shop, exercise stations, biking and pedestrian path. The exquisite rose garden of Elliot Bay Park is extremely alluring, while visitors find the restrooms, benches and picnic tables very convenient. The view of the grain terminal operations from Elliott Bay Park is terrific. This park is made available for the enjoyment of the public, by the Port of Seattle.

The Colman Dock is also located in this bay. This dock is the largest and the main Seattle ferry terminal. Elliot Bay is crucial as it serves as the ideal location for the Port of Seattle, one of the busiest commercial ports in the entire country.
