The Early Music Guild of Seattle or EMG is a non-profit corporation that presents as well as promotes the genre of early music in Seattle and the Puget Sound region.
The roots of current classical music can be traced back to Early Music, which was popular during the Middle Ages, Baroque, Renaissance and early Classical eras. This form of music is played on certain period instruments such as recorders, lutes, viols and harpsichords.
Early Music Guild Concert
The Early Music Guild concerts are worth attending, as some of the finest artists from various parts of the world stage their performances in these concerts. These concerts is an opportunity to enjoy music of different countries like England, Germany, Holland, Italy, Canada, France and United States. The music is amazingly fresh, full of life and exciting. All the performers are adept at blending their deep knowledge of early music and its history with an enthusiastic commitment. This results in a fresh approach in the performances. The informal and friendly nature of the pre-concert lectures are useful for getting familiarized with early music in the context of its culture and history.Musica! is a newsletter published by the EMG, for its members. Articles on upcoming events, concerts and educational opportunities of EMG and some groups of Seattle are presented in it. There is also a calendar of forthcoming events, book reviews and record, biographies of performers and much more on early music and the activities of the Guild.
The Early Music Guild of Seattle, founded in the 1977, is a society, whose vision was to promote appreciation of music predominant in the early historical periods.
